Signature product

ArchStone Signature Address Plaque

A handcrafted architectural address plaque made from GFRC, also commonly referred to as GRC, and finished for a cast-stone appearance.

Designed as a permanent-looking facade detail rather than a standard surface-mounted house sign.

What is GFRC / GRC?

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC), also commonly referred to as GRC, is a modern high-performance composite material. Because of its moldability, it can closely reproduce the color, composition, and texture of natural stone, including sandstone, marble, granite, and travertine. It does not merely copy the visual appearance of stone; it functions as a true architectural chameleon with practical advantages over quarried stone in many exterior applications.

How is a stone-like appearance achieved? Texture and relief are created by applying the GFRC mix through spray-up or vibration-casting methods into flexible silicone, polyurethane, or rubber molds. These molds can be taken from real stone slabs, capturing the fine pores of travertine, the layered character of sandstone, or the rough surface of split granite.

Color and depth are developed through a matrix of high-grade white Portland cement and quartz sand, with light-stable mineral pigments and natural mineral aggregates added to the mix. Because color is integrated into the material, the finish has visual depth rather than a simple surface coating.

Final finishing can further enhance the stone-like character through techniques such as acid etching, sandblasting, or polishing, which reveal the internal texture of the material.

The main advantages of GFRC compared with natural stone include reduced weight, enhanced flexural strength from alkali-resistant glass fiber reinforcement, and the ability to cast complex three-dimensional architectural shapes such as cornices, columns, and relief elements without extensive hand-carving. GFRC components can be produced with thinner profiles than monolithic stone, reducing load on walls and supporting structures while maintaining a premium architectural appearance.
